Odisha win two, lose one in Hockey India Women Natls

Hockey Odisha’s campaign in the 4th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A Division) ended with a 1-4 defeat at the hands of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy at Bhopal on March 23. This was the second defeat for Odisha, who earlier lost to defending champions Haryana 1-11 in the opening match in Pool-A.

In between Odisha crushed Chhattisgarh 12-1 to post their only win three matches. Railways, Haryana, Jharkhand and Punjab qualified for the semi-finals by emerging toppers in respective pools at Aish Bagh and MDC stadium. Railway Sports Promotion Board won the title when they beat defending champions Haryana 4-0 in the final today.

March 18: Haryana
(Navneet Kaur 7th, 21st, 31st, 43rd, 44th; Navjot Kaue 18th, 23rd, 38th; Bharti 32nd, Ritu Rani 55th, Sonika 66th) beat Odisha 11-0.
March 19: Hockey Odisha (Lilima Minz 4th, 27th, 68th; Elin Lakra 21st, 36th, 58th; Nilprojita Majhi 12th, 54th; Zeera Ekka 15th, Dipti Lakra 25th, Seema Lakra 29th, Amubi Devi Ningombam 69th) beat Chhattisgarh (Balvinder 46 min) 12-1.
March 20: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy
(R Ramgaihzuali 25th, 66th; Shyama Tidgam 43rd, Shivani Singh 68th) beat Hockey Odisha (Nilprojita Majhi 60th) 4-1.
